Julie Kay Dorsett, 69, passed away at her home in Kansas City, Missouri, March 23rd, 2017. The daughter of Donald and Kathleen Salzer, born July 2nd, 1947 in Laporte Indiana. A graduate of US Grant High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Julie set out to make her mark as a daughter, sister, mother and career woman. She had many interests, none as more profound as being a mom and supporter of her two boys, Jeff and Chad in their various sports and activities. She raised Jeff and Chad nearly single handedly to be men that she took great pride in.

Her other interests included gardening and ballroom dancing. Competing in several ballroom dancing events throughout her life. Julie retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 28 years of service in July, 2007 where she served 15 of those years as an Airport Safety Inspector in the Southwest Region. Her job was to train and certify, annually, the AARF (Aircraft, Rescue and Fire Fighting) personnel at various public airports throughout the southwest region. Julie was certified as a firefighter herself. Nothing brings greater pride to her children knowing that she was successful not only as a mom, but as a professional woman. Her love, laughter, kindness and giving spirit will be sorely missed.

Julie is survived by 2 brothers, 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held on March 28th, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites 7640 N.W. Tiffany Springs Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. She has requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
