Glenda was born on August 22, 1944 in St. Louis, MO. She graduated with honors from Fox C-6 High School and, again, with honors in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Her employment history included a wide range of business management and executive secretary positions in Kansas City. Her interests included being a skilled pianist, a volunteer actress, a public speaker (Toastmasters International awards), an artist, a gardener, a world traveler, a scholar and a student of spirituality. She was a big-hearted, devoted, passionate and sensitive woman who embraced life and “never met a stranger.” It seemed that “everyone loved Glenda.”

Here is a condensed version of a poem Paul wrote when he was courting Glenda. Sweet Glenda I saw a profile online That I thought I would never see. Brief emails grew to epistles. I flew to KC to meet A woman with the face of an angel And the body of a goddess. We dined and talked half the nights. What else could I do? I fell in love with Sweet Glenda.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd E. and Mildred M. Sherrill of Arnold, MO.  Glenda is survived by her only son, an air traffic controller, Philip Hodges, of Wichita, KS, and his husband, Gary Reep; her only brother, James Sherrill and his wife Jean, of Homer, Louisiana; her significant other, a psychologist, Paul J. O’Neill, Ed.D.,of Kansas City, MO, and her former husband, William Hodges, of Kansas City, Kansas.
