Bill was born July 17, 1934 in Liberty,, MO to Lyman and Dora Alice Berndt. Mr. Berndt was a graduate of Liberty High School prior to his service in the United States Army. He was a loyal employee of 30 years at Hallmark Cards in both Kansas City and Liberty, MO until his retirement in 1991. Bill was an active and passionate lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4043 in Liberty, MO where he served in numerous leadership positions at both local and state levels.

Bill is survived by two sisters, Patsy (Dan) Triplett of Liberty, MO and Helen Mann of Kearney, MO; five children, sons Kurt Berndt and John Doane, daughters Martha Berndt, Cindy Berndt, and Kathy Baumgardner; 24 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathy Berndt; and his daughter, Tracey Shipley.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119.

Cremation services provided by the Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri.
