Robert Milton (Bob) Ellis, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away on April 1, 2018 at the age of 94 at Tallgrass Creek Skilled Nursing.  Bob was a life-long resident of the Kansas City area.  He was born in 1923 to Elmer and Jimmie Ellis.  He attended Blenheim Grade School and graduated from Southeast High School.  During this period Bob was an active Boy Scout and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, During World War II, Bob was a Lieutenant (JG) in the U. S. Navy Air Corp and piloted blimps off the coast of Brazil.  After the war he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He went to work for Black & Veatch Engineering, and retired as a partner from that firm in 1988.

Bob and his wife, Mary, enjoyed spending winters in the Naples, FL area and playing golf at Leawood South Country Club where they were charter members.   They were also one of the original members of the Church of the Resurrection and attended the church for many years.

Bob is survived by Mary, his wife of 74 years; his son Brad (daughter-in-law Karen), daughter Cathy Engmann, all, of Leawood, Kansas; and grandson Rhet Engmann of Lakeland, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson’s) or The Church of the Resurrection: Backpacks for Hunger Ministry.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Wesley Chapel of the United Church of the Resurrection beginning with a visitation at 10:00 A.M. followed by the service at 11:00.  The Church of the Resurrection is located at 13720 Roe Blvd., Leawood, KS.
