Forrest D. Breckenridge, Age: 91

Forrest Dale Breckenridge, 91, of Kansas City, died Aug. 11, 2018, at Stonecrest at Burlington Creek, where he made his home. He was born June 27, 1927, to Orris and Ruth Breckenridge, in his family’s farmhouse outside Woodston, Kan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. After his Navy service, he moved to Kansas City, where he met and married Julie Cresswell. Forrest and Julie enjoyed 52 years of marriage until she died in 2002. Forrest had a distinguished career in banking, from 1949 until he retired in 1992 – although he promptly hired back on with Bank of America as a part-timer, working for several more years in various roles. Among the high points of his career: In the late 1950s, at the dawn of the era of computers in banking, he planned, programmed and installed the first computer at then-Columbia National Bank. Forrest was a dedicated civic volunteer, using his banking expertise to do financial consulting for organizations including KCPT, Channel 19, and the national headquarters in Kansas City of Camp Fire Inc. He was an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Forrest leaves two children, Doug Breckenridge and LuAnn Breckenridge, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life is pending.
