Allan Wehrle, age 74, beloved father, husband of 38 years, brother and friend passed away on June 9, 2016 following a brief illness. He called many places home, most recently living in Lawrence, KS and Kansas City, MO, but he retained a special love for Albuquerque, NM. As a child he treasured summer visits to family homes in Kansas and Iowa.

 

Friends and family have described Allan as generous, kind, funny, gregarious, cool, intelligent, humble, adventurous, inspiring, ­­a “mad scientist”, young at heart and above all a loving father and husband.

 

Allan had a wide variety of interests and hobbies, and excelled at them all. He was an accomplished woodworker and had an amazing ability to create, repair or improve just about any structure or machine. Some of his passions were cars, fishing, dog training, history, reading, cooking, learning Spanish and fixing anything that was broken (and improving things that were not). In recent years, Allan was an avid O scale train modeler, often converting “basket cases” into beautiful, functioning model trains. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and daughters, enjoying a good meal, watching a favorite show or simply sharing a beer on the porch. Allan lived a full life with no regrets - a life well lived.

 

He will be greatly missed by his wife Janet, daughters Eva of Kansas City, MO and Sarah of La Grande, OR, his sister Ann Robison of Wasilla, AK, many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by parents Awtry “Porter” Wehrle and Leona (Didde) Wehrle.
