Robert “Bob" Merle McGregor

Robert “Bob” McGregor, 85 of Overland Park, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020. He was born to Merle Kenneth McGregor and Nina Margaret McGregor in South Haven, KS on May 6, 1935. Bob grew up in Wichita, KS and attended Wichita East High School and Wichita State University where he was a member of the Webster (Delta Upsilon) fraternity. Bob also served in the Air National Guard.

 

Bob met his wife, Sharon Galloup McGregor, at Wichita State University and were lovingly married for over 62 years. Bob and Sharon moved their family to Kansas City (Lenexa) in 1980 as he progressed in his career with Southwest Petro Chem - Witco Chemical. He held a variety of roles in the grease and oil business for 30 years when he retired from Exxon Mobil in 2002.

 

In retirement he worked as a Marshal at Overland Park Golf Course and part-time at Lukas Liquor to “learn more about wine.” When he wasn’t working, he was spending time with his family, playing golf, watching his beloved Jayhawks and working in his yard. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Overland Park, his son Patrick (Trish), MD of Liberty, his daughter Kristin (Tim) Overman of Leawood, his daughter-in-law Judy McGregor of Overland Park, his grandchildren: Eric, Cody, Cole, Hannah, Abby, Molly and four great-grandchildren: Vicie, Orville, Pierce and Lola. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Robert Scott McGregor.

 

A Memorial Service is being planned at Church of the Resurrection for late June.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wichita Firefighters Relief Association in loving memory of Bob and his son Scott McGregor.
