LLOYD “FRED” WILKINSON
Apr 10, 1953 - Jun 02, 2020

Lloyd “Fred” Wilkinson was born on April 10, 1953 to Harvey and Helen (Sousley) in Kansas City, MO and passed away on June 2, 2020. He leaves his wife, Linda (Millsap) Wilkinson of the home and three children, daughter, Leslie Wilkinson of Independence, MO, son, Logan Wilkinson of Independence, MO and son, Levi Wilkinson of New York, New York. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Jillian Cherry of Independence, MO and Jameson Cherry of Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Neubauer of Alabama.

Fred grew up in Raytown, MO and graduated in 1972 from Raytown High School. In 1975, he took over the family business, Harvey’s Tavern and owned it until 2017, retiring because of his health.

Fred will be remembered by his numerous friends and family as an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to be in the woods or on a lake. He was known for his generosity and his winning personality. Fred could tell the best stories and most were not only funny but also were true. Before taking over the business he worked for his dad a few years and he encountered so many endearing customers, many of whom are still not only customers, but friends. Fred became a well respected member of the business community in his long career as a bartender.

Sunday, June 7, 2020 will be a Celebration of Life held at Harve’s Tavern at noon. It is going to be an informal gathering of family and friends from his life. It will be a time of sharing experiences and laughter because that was his wish. Because of the virus scare there will not be food. Fred was one of a kind and is going to be sorely missed by everyone.

Condolences

Cheri Bates Jun 04, 2020

Ex sister in law ,Gainesville ,Georgia

Linda, Leslie, Logan and Levi, Sending you all my condolences for the loss of your husband and father. He was one of a kind and will be surely missed by many people, especially you his beloved family. My memories of him are in the 70s when as a teenager he was so engaging and sweet to his mom, dad and all those adoring aunts I also remember he liked his jeans pressed and was always helping or coming to the aid of someone. Fiercely loyal to his family and friends. When Fred was around there was always laughter and jovialty. My thoughts and prayers for you all as you navigate this new chapter.

I have so much to say and setting here trying to figure out where to even start. I have been in the family since 1974 and let me tell you this large family is so full of life that even after they have went to the heavens above. They are still with everyone in our hearts and minds. That’s how big a presents they make on someone. So Fred, just like your Mom and Dad, all your Family members you won’t be forgotten. You and Linda always made everyone feel welcome in your home or second home “Harvey’s”. You both raised three wonderful kids, plus the fourth I’m going to say teenager LOL. “Harvey’s” your dad would have been so proud of what you accomplished with the bar. All the improvements but still keeping to what he had originally started with, a neighborhood bar where you we’re welcome come. I remember all the family gatherings and reunions at parks always loud and so much fun. We have grown a lot smaller true, but never forgotten. Say hi to everyone. RIP:Fred 6/2020

Gosh, I went to school with Fred, partied with him, saw him intermittently later during our lives, but our paths frequently crossed. He was someone I nalways remembered for his kindness and wit. The last time I saw him was at my dad's funeral in 2012. I wish I could see him again. RIP, buddy.
