Childhood Friend ,ALAMEDA ,California

Since growing up in Roeland Park together and our adventures at Girl Scout Camp in the Ozarkas, through middle school and high school, Nancy was always a wonderful friend and supporter. Nancy had shared part of her autobiography that she was writing for friends and family. I really enjoyed reading it and was looking forward to the next installment. I know she had a lot of health issues. I was so happy when she wrote me that she had graduated from hospice and how rare that was to happen. We always corresponded on July 18 because my wedding anniversary shared her birth date. I will miss our long distance friendship. My sincerest condolences to her friends and all of her family. I will miss her as I think of her often.

Nancy & I went to JHS and HS together. She was always polite, smart, and gracious. When I discovered she was in a facility in Lawrence, with few chances to use the communal phone, I sent her a cellphone, so she could keep in touch any time she wished. Still bright and funny, we chatted many times, albiet not enough. Funny about life... she was always in the top tier; I was the smallest 'nerd' in school... but I got her to laugh occasionally... sleep well, Nancy... at least, we got to share a bit of time.
