Mark Earl Huffman, of Weston, MO, passed peacefully at his home January 28, 2021 at age 61. He was born and raised in Weston, the youngest of three children of Earl and Bonnie (Woodring) Huffman. He was a 1977 alumnus of West Platte High School, continuing with college for a short time at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. He pursued a long working relationship with Domino’s Pizza, beginning in Springfield, then in St. Louis and Kansas City.
He changed course and became a woodworking apprentice at J & S Cabinets in Weston, working for his former football coach and friend. There he developed a love for wood working and for the family that he worked for. He went on to open his own shop, building furniture for clients. Later, he was hired by Citi in Tiffany Springs, MO, working as a customer service representative. He loved the interaction with people at Citi and the friends that he made. Unfortunately, Mark experienced some serious health issues over time resulting in his leaving Citi after a few years.
During his years in Weston, he served the city with the Planning and Zoning Board and in other volunteer capacities. His sincere love and loyalty for the town motivated his interests in it’s families, history, and future. Mark avidly encouraged and supported people and business owners of the town, along with new and old acquaintances. He loved to tell a joke, make a witty jab, or reminisce about the good old days.
Mark was a Missouri sports enthusiast. He followed Weston’s High School sports, Mizzou athletics and the professional teams of the St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Royals and Chiefs with great pride. Music also was a part of his soul. He was weaned on the music of the 60’s and went on to fully experience the 70’s concerts and festivals, saying that he was so lucky to have been born in such great times!
Though family had moved away from Weston, Mark was actively involved with his sisters’ families and Mother over the years. He would supply them with sports jerseys, stories, special messages, and Facebook pokes from a distance. As often as possible, he made the Thanksgiving trip to be with his Mom and Rebecca’s family in Ohio and then hosted Rachel Ann for summer visits. In his daily life, he had many dear local friends that he cherished as family.
He is lovingly remembered by his two sisters: Rachel Ann (Bob) Mein of Pacific Grove, CA and Rebecca (Brad) Bays of Richmond, VA.; nieces and nephews: Ben (Kyla) Bays of Ft Mill, SC and children, Aaron, Emma Jo, and Charlotte; Rian (Justin) Reeder of San Diego, CA and children Lincoln and Scarlett; Bryant (Elizabeth) Bays of Aylet, VA and children Ethan and John Early; his Uncle and Aunt, Larry and Gertrude Woodring of Parkville, MO; and cousins from the Woodring and Weigman families.
A graveside memorial service and interment of his ashes will be held in the summer for family and friends and will be announced at a later date. Information and on-line memorial available at kccremation.com
