Connie Louise (Jordan, Letzig) Brockhausen
Jun 12, 1951 - May 06, 2021

Connie Louise (Jordan, Letzig) Brockhausen, 69, passed into a new life on May 6, 2021, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.  She was born June 12, 1951 in Newton, Kansas, daughter of Rev. Robert and Morna M. (Mills) Jordan.  Connie married Dale William Brockhausen on August 24, 1985, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She was a resident of Raymore, Missouri, since 2011.  She graduated from Raytown South High School, Raytown, Missouri, in 1969.  Connie attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, for one year, and then went to work at American Handicrafts in Kansas City, Missouri, as a salesclerk.  She married Michael A. Letzig in 1971, and from that union were born two sons, James Michael Letzig and Jason Alan Letzig.

Connie’s father was a Christian Education minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) until his retirement, and that ministry began her journey of traveling.  She began her life in Newton, Kansas, but her first home was in Paris, Texas.  This was followed by Fort Worth, Texas; Cushing, Oklahoma; Springfield, Missouri; and Raytown, Missouri.  Connie continued her journey as a military wife to Ayre, Massachusetts; Okinawa, Japan; Colorado Springs, Colorado, returning to Okinawa, and finally Colorado Springs.  Connie married Dale Brockhausen while in Colorado, and continued her journey with him to Colby, Kansas; Great Bend, Kansas; and Raymore, Missouri.

While in Colby, Connie finished her degree in General Studies at Colby Community College.  She began her career in Colorado Springs where she worked as a minister’s secretary at First Christian Church, as a secretary in the Zoning/Planning Dept. for the City of Colorado Springs, as a church secretary in Colby, Kansas, as a medical records clerk at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, and as secretary in the Adult Education Office at Colby Community College.  When Connie moved to Great Bend, she worked as a secretary for the Educational Opportunity Center of Barton County Community College, and as a church secretary at the First United Methodist Church.  Upon moving to Raymore, Connie was blessed to continue her ministry as church secretary at Raymore Christian Church, also her home church.

While living in Colby, Kansas, Connie felt a call to ministry and found her place as a Licensed Minister doing pulpit supply preaching.  Even through the various moves, the call persisted, and she was always able to find her ministry in whatever place she lived.  During her membership at Raymore Christian Church she taught Sunday school for years, and served on many committees within the church.

Survivors include two sons, James Letzig and wife, Linda; Jason Letzig and wife, Lynn; grandchildren:  Shannon, Brandon, Krista, and Max; three great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Stephen Jordan and wife, Carla; two nephews, USAF Sgt. Beau Jordan, Mick Jordan; and one niece, Lillian Jordan.

The family are planning a celebration of Connie’s life later this summer.  Memorials are suggested to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kansas, 2914 SW MacVicar Ave., Topeka, KS  66611.

Friend ,RAYMORE ,Missouri

I met Connie when she & Dale started coming to Raymore Christian Church. At that time I did not realize how good a friend she would become. While she was working as our church secretary and after I retired, she became a very good friend. She always seemed to be crocheting or knitting when she was not busy doing something else. I often told her that I would like to learn to crochet something besides a rug, she finally started a "class" for crocheting & knitting with several of us learning at the same time which became a weekly group that still meets and now includes quitters and other handcrafts. I shall miss her very much!

long-time friend ,Topeka ,Kansas

I met Connie when my father became senior minister at Raytown CC where her father was on staff. Everyone assumed that as fellow PKs we'd be a natural match. Ha! But as adults we connected and became close. My wife and I are so sorry to learn of her passing. She will be dearly missed.
