Michael (Mike) William Putman, Age: 73

Michael (Mike) William Putman, 73, of Leawood, KS, passed away on May 8th in Kansas City, MO, after fighting prostate cancer for a decade.

 

Mike was born in Tacoma, WA to Charles and Margaret Putman on August 2, 1947.  He lived many places throughout his life but called the Kansas City area his home. After receiving his degree at KU and then serving in the Navy for 6 years as a Helicopter Pilot, Mike embarked in a career in production management, and was always great working with his hands, most recently owning his own flooring store and building custom cabinetry. He greatly enjoyed building things and made some beautiful wood pieces through the years.

 

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Charles Putman, and sister-in-law, Nancy Putman. He is survived by his three children, Diana (and Brian) Wise of MO, Darren Putman of MO, and Laura (and Burke) Baldwin of CO; three siblings, David (Dave) Putman of Virginia, Richard (Rick) Putman of Texas, and Margaret (Peggy) Presnell of Texas; his Mother, Margaret (Marg) Putman of Texas; his close friend, Angel Daniels of Kansas; and his four Grandchildren, Danica Wise, Garrett Wise, Avery Baldwin, and Emmett Baldwin.

 

There will be a private ceremony for immediately family, and a plaque will be placed in his honor at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.

I played cards with Mike on Tuesdays and and was sorry to hear of his death. He enjoyed a good game, although I am sure he liked it better when he was winning. My thoughts and sympathies are with those who cared for him.
