Jeanne Irene Hounsell Robinson

August 28, 1928 – September 30, 2021

Jeanne Irene Hounsell Robinson, 93, passed away in her Kansas City home on September 30, 2021.  Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, she graduated from Upper Darby H.S. and went on to major in psychology at the U. of Pennsylvania.  She was married to her husband, Bob, for 63 years and moved with him to the Midwest as his job with DuPont Co. took them first to Oklahoma then on to Kansas City, where they were long-time residents of Mission and Leawood.  For the past 15 years, she has been a member of the Kingswood Retirement Community in Kansas City, MO.  While living in the K.C. area, she worked for a number of years in the insurance industry for Liberty Mutual and Connecticut General Life Insurance companies.  Most of her summers were spent as the official scorekeeper for the baseball games of her son (as player) and husband (as manager) in Johnson County 3&2 and South Suburban leagues and was, perhaps, best known among the players for the thousands of tasty tacos she provided at post-season taco parties.  With a lifelong appreciation of art, she took courses and became a prolific oil painter of landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.  Also an avid knitter of everything from ski sweaters to potholders, she produced thousands of baby caps which she donated to a local maternity ward.  Preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2014, she is survived by a son, Lorne, of St. Paul, MN and her brother, Tom, of Hockessin, DE, as well as a loving extended family including numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families.  Though no services will be held, please feel free to recognize and celebrate Jeanne’s life by making a donation to a charity of your choice.
