Ellie Frances-Marie Stratman
Aug 24, 2003 - Oct 24, 2021

Ellie Frances-Marie Stratman passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2021. She was 18 years old.

Ellie was born on August 24, 2003 in Merriam, KS. She grew up in Prairie Village, KS, attended Tomahawk Elementary, Indian Hills Middle School and recently graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in May 2021.  She was a Freshman at the University of Kansas and was looking forward to studying accounting.

Ellie spent many years competitively dancing ballet and lyrical jazz with Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice.  She was always moving – dancing, swimming, going for walks, paddle boarding, jet skiing, snow skiing, the list goes on.  She was a ball of energy and light, enjoying the outdoors, parks, friends, and family.

Ellie possessed a creative spirit.  When she was little, Ellie designed her own board games, created new fashions for her American Girl Doll and spent hours holding class in the playroom with her ‘students.’ As she grew older, Ellie’s creativity poured out through her refined personal style and the visually stunning culinary masterpieces that she prepared for herself.

Her love of animals was evident to all. From rescuing backyard baby bunnies, to snuggling and playing with the family cats and dogs, animals were always dear to her heart. She even picked out and named the current family dog, Baloo.

Ellie’s light and love remains in this world with her parents, Randy and Suzanne Stratman, her sisters Kaitlyn and Maya Stratman, her Grandfather, Francis Stratman, her Grandmother, Ann Maureen Charron, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as the many friends and lives she touched.

A Celebration of Ellie’s Life will be held on Saturday October 30th, 2pm – 4pm (brief service at 3pm) at Plexpod Westport Commons, 300 E. 39th St., Kansas City, MO 64111 (Upper level parking off of Warwick Blvd., Lower level parking off East 38th Street)   https://www.plexpod.com/locations/westport

Clara’s Father (Clara’s Dream) ,Lenexa ,Kansas

It was a privilege and honor to play the role of Clara’s father the year Ellie was Clara in Miller-Marley’s Clara’s Dream. The one thing I could count on receiving from her during that show or at any show or competition afterwards was one of the most genuine, heartfelt and beautiful smiles in the entire world. Having done the show for so long, I couldn’t call each of the Clara, so each received a nickname. It usually tied to their name or initial. Hers not only fit her name, but also her dancing ability and her personality off the dance floor. In my heart she will always be, Clara Elegant.

Its heartbraking to hear about her passing. I remember one time when we met them. She was still real young like 5 or 6 I think. I was talking to her and told her how yhe youngest are always the best (because I'm the youngest) and she giggled and had a big smile. It was really cute.
