Mark Steven Masciovecchio

August 29, 1958 – February 13, 2023

Mark Steven Masciovecchio passed away from natural causes on February 13th, 2023, at the age of 64. Mark was born on August 29th, 1958, in his beloved city of Kansas City, Missouri, to Virginia and Guido Masciovecchio. Mark grew up with his two older sisters, Jeanie and Jackie, in a loving, Italian household where the pizza was as good as the memories. Mark loved to play baseball at Jack Forbes camp, read books, and ride around town with his best friend, John Pottier. After years of playing golf with his father, Guido, Mark became an excellent caddy.

Mark attended Rockhurst High School, where he discovered his love for playing guitar, listening to classic rock, and watching the three-time Super Bowl Champions: the Kansas City Chiefs. Much like his favorite football team, Mark found success by finishing his bachelor’s degree at Central Missouri State University, where he met his wife, Nancy Gryder, and brought three children into the family: Joe, Anthony, and Amber.

Mark’s sharp mind and wit helped him become one of the top salesmen in the history of his medical sales company and was well known as the kind of guy who could start a good conversation with a tree. Mark consistently made the people around him laugh with his goofy yet infectious humor that will be deeply missed.

Mark is survived by his two sisters, Jackie Cruise and Jean LaJoie, and his children: Joe Masciovecchio, Anthony Masciovecchio, and Amber Helou, whom he was incredibly proud of.

A visitation and mass to celebrate Mark Masciovecchio will be held at Guardian Angels Parish, a place where Mark dedicated the final years of his life to building, maintaining, and reconnecting with Jesus. The visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18th, from 10 to 11, followed by a mass at 11, and then a luncheon, all at 1310 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO. 64111.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Guardian Angels Parish to further the ministry and food bank Mark worked very hard for.

Rest in peace, Mark, and may his love of life and laughter continue to shine within the lives of those who knew him.

We share recent losses, Jeanie, and I'm so sorry I missed a chance to give you a warm hug and share this memorial time for your brother. I know Eleanor was there to greet him as all Good Counsel people would be...that parish created a community and family that lives on even now with friendships that endure. My deepest sympathies on this recent loss to you, your sister and his children.
