Mary Ellen Gleesettle Mayotte
December 7, 1937 – May 26, 2023
Mary Mayotte, 85, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023, while in the excellent care of Ascend Hospice and New Mark Care Center and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mary was born December 7, 1937, to Lawrence and Nora (Collins) Gleesettle in Glens Falls, New York. She was the oldest of 3 children – sister Cay (1939-1997) and brother John (1948-1979). Mary adored her Grammy Grace!
Mary was a graduate of Glens Falls High School and Boston University. She married Roland Arthur Mayotte on June 15, 1957, and had five children Andrew John (1958-1958), Leslie (1959), Lory (1960-2020), Peter (1965) and Donna (1966). She resided in Malibu, California and Marina Del Rey, California and then settled in the northland of Kansas City, Missouri.
Mary had her own business in California for many years doing executive search and worked for Jack Miller Chrysler in Kansas City until her retirement.
She was thrilled to take the long way when driving her PT Cruiser. She was passionate about caring for feral cats at her apartment complex while loving her own indoor cat, Missy. She loved the beautiful large hanging baskets of Fuchsias for her porch that drew the hummingbirds she so enjoyed. Mary loved Hallmark movies, going out to Lydia’s Italian, and Mi Ranchito and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite hymn was Amazing Grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, Roland, her daughter Lory, and son in law Kirk. She is survived by Leslie Debrick (Matt, Grandchildren Tyler, Sydney, and Great Grandson Asher), Peter Mayotte, Donna Parsley (Granddaughter Buffi and husband Micah and Great Grandchildren Mack, Parker, Kirklan, and Carmella) and many extended family members. She is dearly remembered by her faithful friends Laura, Cooch, Joan, Judi, Laurie, Nancy, Chris, and Linda.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place on June 8 and her family will spread her ashes on the farm where she enjoyed all the animals and the beautiful flowers on the patio.
