William Frank Anthony, Age: 91

William Frank Anthony, 91, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on April 9, 2024 of natural causes.

William (Bill) was born September 19, 1932 to Frank Price and Mildred Frances Myers Anthony in Bloomfield, Missouri. Bill has been married to Carol Jean (DeWeese) Anthony for 46 years. He is survived by two sons, one daughter-in-law, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, one son and one daughter-in-law.

Bill was a graduate of Wright City High School. After graduation, Bill served in the United States Army during the Korea era from 1953 to 1955 rising to the rank of Sergeant. Bill’s service and dedication to his country was recognized when he was selected for the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. with other fellow military servicemen and women.  After Bills time serving in the Army, he began a new chapter when he studied economics at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and was an honor student at American University in Washington, D.C. for a semester. Bill’s love of economics ultimately led him to a very successful career as an Investment Banker at various local and national firms which included EF Hutton, Piper Jaffrey, and United Missouri Bank.

Bill was a huge baseball fan, St. Louis Cardinals being his all time favorite team. One of Bill’s most cherished Cardinal memories was attending the Cardinals Fantasy Camp where he battled against the great Bob Gibson in Busch Stadium (1987/89). Nice work Bill, but did you really have to have Joe Buck be your pinch runner when you were injured? Thankfully, Bill’s love of baseball also allowed him the privilege of attending the Kansas City Royals Fantasy Camp in 2005. It was at this camp that Bill was able to enjoy camaraderie with all time greats, Al Fitzmorris, George Brett and Kevin Seitzer. Bill accepted the award of MVP at the camp which led to him throwing out the first pitch at a Royals game. In 2017, Bill was honored to be selected to sit in the Buck O’Neil Legacy seat.

Bill loved his family dearly and was active in the lives of those around him. After retirement, Bill and Carol enjoyed traveling, all the while; Bill was keeping his pulse on the market. He did so up until his last days.

Bill and Carol are members of Blue Valley Church. Bill loved his church family and the time he was able to spend there. A meet and greet service will be held at Blue Valley Church Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 1:00-3:00p.m. Donations are welcome to be made to the church or to the Saint Louis Cardinals, Cardinals Care Foundation in Bill’s honor.
