Brenda Ann McKinney, Age: 76
Nov 05, 1948 - May 28, 2025

Brenda Ann McKinney (Brown) affectionally known as Mama Brenda was born November 5, 1948, to Matthew L. Brown and Helen Brown (Mims) in Amherst, Texas. Brenda was married to Samuel R. McKinney Sr. and from that union she had two children Samuel R. McKinney Jr and Janice R. McKinney both residing in Kansas City Missouri.  Brenda loved life, lived it well, loved her children, grandchildren, God child, and great grandchildren with an unconditional love.  She had a personality that met no strangers and was loved by many.  Her career at Motorola as a Quality Control Inspector for over 25 years was an accomplishment that she was very proud of.  She graduated from Albuquerque High in 1967.  Brenda was a long-time member of Bethesda Seventh-Day Adventist church in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she held many offices including head-usher.

She followed in her father’s footsteps as a self-made businessperson and owned a business with her brother (Leroy) called B & L Sports.  In her retirement she loved making friends and going daily to the North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center.  Brenda lived in Albuquerque New Mexico for over 60 years and in December 2024 she moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri with her daughter.  Brenda was declining in health, but she didn’t let that stop her from making several trips with her daughter and enjoying her time with her son and caregiver.

Brenda was born into a close knit family of 4 sisters (including her) and a brother.  She was preceded in her death by her eldest sister Barbara A. Brown Linder. She leaves to mourn her sisters Linda A. Coleman-Willis (Welford) and Vada B. Brown both of (California). Her brother Matthew L. Brown Jr. (Rose) of Albuquerque, NM.  She was loved by all her nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

On May 28, 2025, Brenda went to sleep in her home in Lee’s Summit, Mo. and is waiting for Jesus to return.  She leaves to mourn her husband (Samuel R. McKinney Sr.), Her two children Samuel McKinney Jr. (Kansas City, MO.), and Janice R McKinney (Lee’s Summit, MO.). Her three grandsons Demetrius A. McKinney (Maryland), Brandon D. McKinney (New Jersey), Tyler J. McKinney (Alabama). Her God-daughter Jalecia Bouldin (Arizona). Her three great-granddaughters Brooklyn McKinney (Maryland), Brielle McKinney (New Jersey), Bella McKinney (New Jersey), and her favorite canine friend/great granddaughter Marley McKinney (Lee’s Summit).

Auntie Mother of my Sister ,Dallas ,Texas

Aunt Brenda, I will always remember your spunky, fiesty, loud, hard working, dedicated, soulful, dressy, wig wearing, Christian, caring, thoughtful, loving, intelligent and beautiful self. Indeed, you were a vibe all by yourself. Although I hate you left this life too early, I know God's timing is PERFECT. I will miss your sweet self and look forward to seeing you again in the earth made new. Until then, I will keep an eye on your daughter, my precious sister, who I truly value and thank you for. I will also check on your one and only son and keep tabs on your grandkids. Jesus will have to keep watch past that level😉🥰. MUCH LOVE FAMILY! God is and will ALWAYS be ever present and available for whatever you need. He LOVES YOU UNCONDITIONALLY!!
