Travis Nieder, 44, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, following a courageous year-and-a-half-long battle with leukemia. Travis was born on April 28th, 1981, in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was adopted by his loving parents, Leon and Donna Nieder.
He grew up in Blue Springs, Missouri, and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 2000, where he was deeply involved in theatre and marching band (don’t worry—he was cool and in the drumline).
Travis was truly one of a kind. With an exceptional gift for technology and a knack for industrial maintenance, he could keep just about anything mechanical running. He had almost as many hobbies as he did talents. If you knew Travis, you quickly (and probably extensively) learned about his passion for movies—Star Wars, Jurassic Park, The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, to name a few—along with computers, his Jeep, rollercoasters, gaming (World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons, specifically), Legos, space, NASA, and more. But more important than all these passions was the love he poured into his relationships—with his wife, family, and friends. He gave just as much of his heart to the people around him as he did to the things he loved.
Travis is survived by his wife, Ariana Nieder; his sisters, Joanna Freeman and Nikki Jeffers; their spouses, Anthony Freeman and Stephen Jeffers; his in-laws, Greg Vistine and Tammy Keiser; their spouses, Cassie Crow-Vistine and Doug Parrish; and his brother-in-law, Ian Vistine. He also leaves behind five nieces and nephews, as well as his loving aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Nieder; his father, Leon Nieder; and his grandparents, Leonard and Ellen Nieder, and Paul and Ruby Carrender.
A visitation, memorial service, and celebration of life in honor of Travis will be held on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at the Sun Ridge Event Venue, 17001 S. 291 Hwy, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080.
