Janice C. Huffman, Age: 70

Sep 20, 1955 - Feb 28, 2026

Janice Carol Huffman, 70, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on February 28, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.  Born on September 20, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to Ulysses Eugene Williams and Sarah Evelyn Williams. She was the youngest of 4 and sister to Sharon, Steve and Terry.

Janice started her career in the mail room at the Federal Reserve Bank. She worked in many other departments retiring from the Wholesale Operations Department after 38 years at the Federal Reserve Bank. During her time at the Fed she developed lifelong friendships that remained a support through her last days.

With unwavering strength and love, she raised her daughter Jill. She met her soulmate and they became a loving blended family. Janice met her “person” when neither were looking. She loved and cared for Joe through her last breath as he did for her.  32 years of marriage and their blended family was her love. They enjoyed “hosting” and entertaining family and friends through the years from Holiday gatherings to Superbowl parties. They were simply made for one another. They brought out the best in each other. They enjoyed traveling on cruise ships to cruise nights in their vintage cars. Through the years they volunteered for various organizations in Kansas City ultimately finding their mission to serve within their church.

Upon retirement she started volunteering at Vineyard Church. This became a new dedication and act of service for her. Many describe her as a smile, kind heart and hard worker. She continued her volunteer work in various capacities even throughout her cancer treatments. She and Joe found a bible study “small group” at Vineyard Church that has been a source of faith, friendship, fun and support. The bond they have in this group is steadfast.

Janice had a gift of making everyone feel heard and loved. She loved without judgement and a goal of unity. Her family has always been her priority. She made an effort to support her children and grandchildren coming to them wherever they were supporting whatever life events they had. She loved being a Nana/Grandma where calendars and miles simply didn’t get in the way.

Janice knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no bounds. She was not only generous in life, but also through her cancer treatments; donating monthly to St. Jude’s for children with cancer, participating in a clinical trial at KU in hopes of helping others and in death as an organ donor.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Huffman; children, Michelle Huffman, Tony (Faith) Huffman, Heather (Jeff) Massey, Jill (Brent) Harper; grandchildren, Jeremy, Joseph, Michael, Miranda, Sydney, Adrian, Austin, Emily, Alex, Emma and Caleb; 13 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Vineyard Church 12300 Arrowhead Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64156

In lieu of flowers you may consider a donation to one of the organizations Janice passionately supported.

Janice donated to St. Jude’s Children Research monthly since her cancer diagnosis

She is always with us because she has filled our life with her legacy of loving her family fiercely.

Joe and family, my deepest condolences to all of you. We met Joe and Janice at Cruisin the Coast many years ago. Each year we looked forward to spending time during the show visiting with them. I always admired his beautiful Buick they would drive from home. My wish is you all treasure those wonderful memories that brought you joy and aid all through the days ahead.
