Sharon Kay Grobmyer, Age: 68

May 28, 1957 - Apr 13, 2026

Sharon Kay Grobmyer, 68, slipped into the arms of Jesus Monday night, April 13, 2026 at home, with her husband, David Grobmeyer at her side. Sharon was born May 28, 1957, to John H and Benedean Peters.

She and her six siblings grew up in Independence, MO. They spent vacations at the lake cabin enjoying the freedom of the great outdoors. Sharon learned to love camping from an early age and found joy around a campfire.

When Sharon was married to her first husband, Donald Crowe, she had an in-home daycare. She became fast friends with one of the mothers, Cheryl Lewis. Sharon and Cheryl were soul sisters from the start and enjoyed adventures of all kinds - visiting over a meal, traveling to Branson, supporting each other through all seasons of life. When Don became ill, Sharon cared for him until the end of his life.

Sharon found love and joy again when she married her second husband, David, on August 8, 2008. They had almost 18 happy years together. David told Sharon he always wanted to marry an older woman; she was older by 2 months! Not only did he get an older woman when they married, he also was privileged to share her clock collection. Sharon loved clocks, especially the ones that made noise, and had 20-30 when they married. David said it was like a zoo with clocks sounding off! Her most recent favorite clock was her Charlie Brown clock.

Sharon had a generous heart, compassionate and was kind to a fault. After she and David married, she continued caregiving but for adults instead of children. She became a Direct Support Professional, caring for developmentally disabled individuals for close to 30 years. She loved her ladies, spoiling them with gifts and goodies, especially during the holidays. When the time came that her mom needed more help, Sharon moved in with her, allowing her mom to stay home as long as possible. Sharon’s compassion overflowed as she lived a life serving others.

Sharon was a devoted member of Connection Point Baptist Church, attending when her health and work schedule allowed. Sharon was funny, loved Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, and Hallmark movies. She had an unfulfilled dream of visiting Disney World. Sharon loved animals, especially her cat, Grace. She will be missed by Grace and all the people who loved her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, John and Benedean Peters, brothers John, Kenneth, and Raymond Peters, and her first husband, Donald Crowe. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, David Grobmyer, stepson, William Grobmyer, sisters Susan (Mike) Hale, Chery Lewis, brothers Ronald (Phyllis) Peters, Kevin (Tina Gates) Peters, and Mark Grobmyer. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. To honor Sharon, scatter love and kindness like seeds, looking for the best in those you meet along life’s journey.
