Rosemarie Hanus, 75, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, after a brief battle with illness.
Rosemarie was born on March 6, 1951, Kansas City, Missouri to Frank Dispensa and Frances Rivas. Following a family tragedy at the tender age of five, she was lovingly raised by Pablo and Lionisia Valdez, whose care helped shape the compassionate and faithful woman she became.
She graduated from Northeast High School on May 29, 1970, and spent her life devoted to faith, family and kindness towards others. A faithful Jehovah's Witness, Rosemarie was a devoted member of the Platte City Kingdom Hall, where she found joy in worship and fellowship. A talented cook with a flair for home decorating and an enthusiasm for crochet, she created warmth wherever she went.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Rivas, father Frank Dispensa and brother Matthew Alvarado.
Family and friends gathered to honor Rosemarie's memory during visitation on April 8, at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kansas. A memorial service followed on April 19 at Platte City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Steve Hanus; her children Maureen Black, Paul Fernandez, Josephine Smith and son-in-law Johnathan Smith and Samantha Meneses and her cherished grandchildren, Ishmael, Solomon, Quentin, Jazmin and Jayla. Her sisters Phylis Rodriguez, Nancy Gnipp and Delores Magnin.
Rosemarie will be remembered for her loving heart, steadfast faith and devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
