Harlen A. Starcher of Smithville, MO passed away on May 15th, 2026 at New Mark Rehab and Healthcare Center due to complications from severe dementia.
Harlen was born on February 25th, 1939 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Gayly and Viva Starcher.
He proudly worked from the mid 60’s to the 80’s for TWA in Kansas City, MO. After taking early retirement he settled in Orlando, FL where he went on to work for International Paper. He lived in Orlando for 35+ years. His employment over the years helped fulfill his love of fiddling with mechanics. This also showed in his love for working on cars, air conditioners and anything else that needed fixed!
Harlen loved bass fishing, playing the lottery, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and going to his favorite neighborhood restaurant, Dan’s in Orlando, FL. He established many friendships while hanging out at Dan’s that meant a lot to him. Faith was also important to him. He was a member of the Christmas Church of God in Christmas, FL. Helping people in need was part of who he was.
Harlen is survived by his brother, two daughters and many family members and friends. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Irene “Bunny” Starcher, his parents and sister.
