Mary Sue Sharp passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at the age of 88, with her daughter by her side. She was born on January 28, 1938, to the late John and Dorothy New.

Mary Sue graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1956. She married Tommy Joe Sharp on April 1, 1961. They were married 30 years before Tom's death in 1991. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for the first twenty years of their marriage, then she worked for the Blue Valley School District as a secretary from 1981-1997. She retired at the age of 59.

Mary Sue loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending social dances and doing crossword puzzles as a pastime. She nurtured her flowers and kept a yard to be envied by many.

She is survived by her three children: Joe Sharp (Sandy), Brad Sharp (Christe), and Susan Laird (Scott) and her four grandchildren, Taylor Laird, Anna Vandervelden (Noah), Tommy Laird (Hope), and Derek Sharp (Nina). She is also survived by her brother John New III (Beth) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Joe Sharp, her sisters Barb Smith and Linda Jones and her parents.

Mary Sue's kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family will remain a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
