Aug 26, 1961 - Jun 02, 2026

 August 26, 1961 - June 2, 2026

The celebration of life service for Carol Lynn Bright, age 64, of Kansas City, Kansas, will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Emerson Park Christian Church, with Rev. Amy Shoemaker officiating. A private family burial will follow at a later date.

Carol was born to Garry and Joyce Bright on August 26, 1961 in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Turner High School in 1979. After high school, Carol worked various jobs, before settling at the Turner School District serving in various roles for several years. She retired from the school district in the late 2000s, but remained active in the Turner community.

Carol was the beloved mother of Sarah, Andrew and Annie, whom she raised in the Kansas City area, where they remain today. Carol loved her family and friends, her puppies, music and her Lord, Jesus Christ.

She was not afraid to face life challenges head on, of which she had many in her life, including being a breast cancer survivor and going back to college at 64 years of age to study theology and psychology.

With each new challenge, Carol kept bravely moving forward with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. Carol lost her battle with a long illness surrounded by family and friends on June 2, 2026.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Wayne Ozias. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hershey; brother, Tim Bright, and wife, Tonya, and daughters, Alexandria and Brianna; daughter, Sarah Knudsen, and husband, David, and grandchildren, Justin and Juliana; son, Andrew Drake, and wife, Shandy, and grandchildren, Zayne and Scarlett; Annie Drake-Herber, and wife, Crystal, and grandchildren, Hope and Gabriel; and stepdaughter, Janelle and son, Lucian.
