Susan Halliday, known to many in her hometown of Billings as Susan Inman, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. True to form, she faced her illness with the same strength, spunk, humor, and determination that defined her entire life.
Susan was born to Carl and Marjorie Garrison on July 16, 1947, and grew up in Billings, Missouri, where she attended school and built the lifelong friendships and connections that remained important to her throughout her life. She was the kind of person who made people feel welcome, valued, and loved. That same caring spirit guided her throughout a 35-year nursing career, during which she touched countless lives through her compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her patients. Her home was rarely empty. Whether she was hauling a carload of kids to a ballgame, ordering pizza for whoever happened to show up, or simply offering a listening ear, Susan had a gift for making everyone feel like family.
She is survived by her twin sister and best friend, Sharon, and Sharon’s husband, Larry; her sons, Kris and daughter-in-law Mariah, and Brad; her nephew, Todd, and his wife Angela; her niece, Amy; her grandsons, Kailen, Harrison, and Cory and Nick; and many other cherished family members, friends, and those who lovingly considered her a second mom.
She was preceded in death by her son, Craig, and by her parents, Carl and Marjorie Garrison.
Susan’s greatest legacy is not found in any title or accomplishment, but in the countless lives she touched. She possessed a singular strength in the face of adversity, a fierce devotion to family and friends, and a remarkable ability to find joy even during life’s most difficult seasons. She taught those around her that every day is a gift and that life is meant to be lived fully, generously, and with a sense of humor.
To know Susan was to know kindness, resilience, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a family and community made better by her presence and forever grateful for the example she set.
Her memory will live on in every act of generosity, every shared laugh, and every gathering where there always seems to be room for one more at the table.
Visitation services will be held Friday, June 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Meadors Funeral Home in Billings, Missouri. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Susan’s life, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was.
