Mary Alice Dieterman, 85 years old, of Prairie Village Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.
Born on December 25, 1940, Mary brought warmth, resilience, and compassion into the lives of everyone who knew her. She was known for her kindness, steady strength, and deep devotion to her family and her faith. Her life was a reflection of generosity, service, and unwavering love.
Mary and he beloved husband, Josheph, spend the majority of their lives in St. Louis Missouri, where they embraced the joys of city life and treasured every opportunity to be with family and friends. Those years were filled with meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and countless cherished memories that remain close to her heart.
Mary had a strong enduring faith in God and a special devotion to The Blessed Mother, Mary. She found deep peace and comfort in prayer, especially in praying the Rosary. Some of the most meaningful moments of her life were spent reciting the Rosary and attending Mass, where she experienced a profound sense of peace and closeness to her faith.
Her faith was lived through action. She dedicated much of her time to serving others, volunteering in nursing homes where she comforted and cared for the elderly. She also generously gave her time to the Old Cathedral in St. Louis, a place of deep personal significance.
Above all, Mary cherished her family, She found her greatest joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Always ready to play, laugh, and create lasting memories, she was lovingly known as “Mimi” – a name that will forever be associated with warmth, joy, and unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of more than 60 years, Joseph (Joe) Dieterman; her son James (Kirby) Dieterman; her mother Mary Agnes Ewing; her father James (Jim) Ewing; and her brother Jimmy Ewing.
Mary is survived by her children, Joseph (Chris) Dieterman and his spouse Vicki Dieterman; Jude Dieterman and his spouse Rebecca (Becky) Dieterman; her daughter Mary (Molly) Dieterman. She is also survived by her sisters, Sarah Wojciechowski, Rebecca (Becky) Bach, Kathleen (Katy) Parker.
She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Anna, Sarah, Sam, Lauren (Abbey), and Adam; and two great-grandchildren Otto and Wes.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St Ann Catholic Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, on Friday July 10, 2026 at 11 am in the chapel. A Rosary service will precede the Mass at 10:45 am.
Mary’s life was defined by love – Freely given to her family, her friends, and her community. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
