Patty Marie Carter-Morcomb, Age: 88

Jul 01, 1938 - Jul 17, 2026

Patty Marie Carter-Morcomb passed away on July 17, 2026, at Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center in Liberty, Mo. Patty was born on July 1, 1938, in Holt, Mo to Walter and Bessie Sellers. She attended Lathrop High School. On June 2, 1954, she married Gordon F. Carter and resided on a farm east of Holt, Mo. While living on the farm she had a large garden and canned or froze many different vegetables. She also had several dairy cows and would milk them twice daily (while making sure the barn cats got their share). Patty would make butter and cottage cheese with the milk. In the summers she would buy small lambs and bottle fed them. She returned to school and graduated from Central Missouri State with a degree in elementary education and later went on to obtain a Master's degree. She taught at Lawson Elementary for 2 years and then at Kearney Elementary teaching 3d grade until she retired. Patty and Gordon moved to Yuma, Arizona in 2001 where she lived until her death.

Patty never liked to be cold so living in the desert made her happy. Patty rode 4-wheelers, panned for gold at their gold claim and enjoyed her retirement. Gordon passed away in

2006. Patty was blessed with meeting William Morcomb while in Yuma and they fell in love and married in 2008. Bill is from Minnesota and has 4 children. This increased her extended family significantly and she enjoyed the time she spent with them. Bill introduced her to sand and dirt buggies, and they would be but in the desert with their

"buggy friends" several times a week. Bill and Patty would go to Red Cloud Mine outside Yuma and search for Wulfinite (a beautiful gemstone). Her collection grew and grew, and Bill built her several display cases for her rocks. She also learned about fluorescent rocks and again Bill built a large cabinet with black lights to display her collection. Bill and Patty hosted many potlucks at their home that were popular. Patty is survived by her husband Bill, her 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by Bill's family, 4 children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as Bill's brothers and sisters. She often stated that it was such a blessing to have this large and fun

"Minnesota Family". She had many "Yuma friends" and will be missed by them. Memorial services will be Monday August 3 at Northern Hills Baptist Church 1721 NE 180th St, Holt Mo. 64048 at the Family Outreach Center, Northern Hills Academy 5:30-7:30.
