Joan Lepreal Prine, 83, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on July 21, 2026.

Joan was born on March 13,1943 in Kansas City, MO to Ralph Robert and Zelda Lepreal (Whitlow) Addleman.

Joan spent her childhood in Leavenworth, KS and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1961. She attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA where she earned an Associates of Arts degree and made many lifelong friends.

Joan spent many years working as an administrative assistant for the Jackson County Prosecutors Office, followed by an additional 21 years as the administrative assistant to private attorney, John P. O’Connor, until her retirement in July 2016.

Joan was a lifelong member of Community of Christ. She was active in the Colonial Hills congregation, where she participated in Christian education and was ordained to the Office of Teacher in 2015. Joan was very dedicated to her role in Greeter Ministry and had a special way of always making people feel welcome and included. Faith and service to her community were very important to her. She volunteered regularly with the Necessities Pantry and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

Joan valued her relationships with family and friends. She stayed connected to those, both near and far, through thoughtful cards and regular phone and video calls. She loved being a mother and grandmother and had a nurturing way of mothering others. Being active, supportive and present in her daughters’ and grandchildren’s lives  was more important to her than anything else.

Joan is survived by her daughter Courtney Brown and husband Tim (Lee’s Summit, MO); daughter Amanda Prine (Los Angeles, CA); and grandchildren Carter, Kendall, Hudson and Lainey Brown.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Whitlow Addleman (2003).

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on August 8, 2026 at Colonial Hills Community of Christ, 3539 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outreach International or Community Services League of Blue Springs.
