Claudia Marie Ransburg-Thomas peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 29, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Claudia was born on January 22, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Bernice Short and Robert L. Ransburg, Sr. She was the eighth of sixteen children, including one stepbrother. She attended the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools and graduated from Southeast High School in 1980.
Following graduation, Claudia held several positions before dedicating herself to caring for her mother, Bernice, and later stepping away from the workforce because of health concerns. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her three children, whom she loved unconditionally.
Claudia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior during the early 1970s while attending Tri-City Central Baptist Church. Four days before her passing, she joyfully reaffirmed her faith, finding peace and comfort in God's promise of eternal life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Antwaine Ransburg, Phillip Ransburg, and Sherita Ransburg, all of Kansas City, Missouri; fourteen cherished grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, James Ransburg of Jackson, Mississippi, Paul Short of Crowley, Texas, Mary Marfo of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dr. Robert L. Ransburg, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Michael Ransburg of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sheila Ransburg-Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, William Shaw of Kansas City, Missouri, Ronald Winfrey of Arlington, Texas, Donna Winfrey of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Maxine Turner of Arlington, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice Short and Robert L. Ransburg, Sr.; siblings: Deborah Perkins, Barbara Ransburg-Harkrader, Raymond Ransburg, Clifford Ransburg, and Timothy Ransburg.
Claudia will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her compassionate heart, and her enduring faith. Her kindness, strength, and quiet spirit touched countless lives, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Final arrangements are under the direction of the family. Claudia's final disposition will be by cremation
