Donald H. Black, age 93, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Norman H. Black and Kathleen A. Black (Hoskins). He was one of two children. He graduated from Northeast High School, class of 1951, and received his Associate of Arts Degree from Kansas City Junior College, Kansas City, Missouri.
Donald proudly served his country during the Korean War (1952-1954) in the U.S. Army and earned the rank of Corporal.
Donald was a successful businessman and salesman. He worked as a sales representative and account executive for several companies in Kansas City, Missouri, that specialized in pneumatic tube systems. He was instrumental in the installation and service of these systems throughout several local hospitals and banking institutions. He also enjoyed work as a successful car salesman for several years.
Donald was a member of Connection Point Church in Raytown, Missouri.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcelene Y. Black (Carlile); his two children, Marlene R. Pietrocola and Stephen H. Black; his three grandchildren, Garrett P. Pietrocola, Gabrielle R. (Kody) Whiteside and Grant S. Pietrocola; and his three great-grandchildren, Guiliana G. Whiteside, Jade O. Whiteside and Quentin B. Whiteside; his sister Mary I. Sturgis, nephew Richard L. (Trish) Brown and niece, Barbara A. Slessman.
Family, friends, and neighbors are invited to a memorial service to be held at Connection Point Church, 10500 E. 350 Highway, Raytown, Missouri 64138, on August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Military Honors and Graveside Service will be held on August 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Higginsville Veteran Cemetery located at 20109 Business Hwy 13, Higginsville, Missouri 64037.
