Thomas “Tom” Patrick Murray, Age: 80

Thomas “Tom” Patrick Murray, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work and passion for life, family and friends.

He took immense pride in building a life filled with purpose and work ethic, both professionally and in regards to his house and home, his love of all things Chicago (Bears and Cubs), but most of all, an unwavering love for his wife, his 4 children, their 4 spouses and his 14 grandchildren.

Tom was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 28th, 1945, and was married to the love of his life, Nancy Allard, on January 21, 1967. Tom’s profession moved his family to Overland Park, Kansas in 1985 to establish new roots, but he was always a Chicago boy at heart. Everyone that met Tom, remembered Tom. First by his contagious smile, then his outgoing, gregarious nature that made him a friend to all. He carried a deep pride in his Irish heritage, and most of all, a quiet-strong love that was always welcoming. His home was a haven for everyone—from the quiet ones he took under his wing to those he may not have always agreed with.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, McGarry Patrick Murray, his mother, Marie Mastrianno, his brother Timothy “Tim” Murray and his granddaughter, Lillian “Lila” Bryan.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Marie Murray. His four children and their spouses Kimberly O’Neal (Brad), Sean Murray (Lisa), Bill Murray (Sara), Colleen Bryan (Brenden) and his beloved grandchildren- Fiona Oaks (Tyler), Brandon Murray (Brie), Preston Murray, Cade O’Neal, Fenella O’Neal, Keegan Murray, Cosmo O’Neal, Finnian Bryan, Nora Bryan, Max Murray, Sullivan Murray, Fletcher Murray and Milo Murray. Nancy, we were deeply saddened to receive Brenden's email telling us of Tom's passing. We have such wonderful memories of him. We are grateful for all the times we were welcomed into your home, and for Tom's infectious gifts of joy and laughter. Together you and Tom created a very loving family, and we are thinking of each of you who mourn his loss. May his memory be a blessing. God bless you all. Love, Beth and Gary
