John Carroll Gilbert, born December 11, 1943 in Sacramento, CA passed away on September 16th, 2026 in Kansas City, Missouri. John lived in many places including various cities in California; Anchorage, AK; Plattsburg, MO; and has lived in the KC area for 35+ years. John worked as an airplane inspector for American Airlines for 5 years. Prior to American Airlines he worked at TWA for 35 years where he was an airplane inspector\mechanic. John proudly served in the United States Army overseas during the Korean War. Even though he was a quiet person, he was best known for his killer smile. He will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife Susan Gilbert, brother Ken Gilbert; daughters Jacquelynn (Jason) Filbert and Karen (Sarah) Billig; son Jason Craig and Terri Lundy;  grandsons Matthew Abrams and Clayton Craig; granddaughter Jaiden Filbert. He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia, step-father Bill Fisher, and father Carroll Gilbert.

Open house services will be held at 2651 NW Barry Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64154 in the common area on the first floor on Oct 10th from 12pm to 4pm.
