JoAnn Ewing, 91, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully at North Kansas City Hospital Hospice Care on Wednesday September 27, 2026. JoAnn was born January 2, 1935 to Hardy and Josephine (Smith) Olinger in Kansas City. JoAnn  graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City. In 1954 she married Ronald Rush Ewing of Kansas City. JoAnn went to beauty school to earn her Cosmetology License. JoAnn was baptized at the Kansas City Baptist Temple in the early 1950s and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, now Connection Point Church. JoAnn was also a member of the Eastern Star. JoAnn loved to knit afghans and hats and distributed them to family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Ewing) Blaco and her husband Timothy Blaco, her adopted son Patrick Ewing, and her grandchildren: Ashley Blaco, Aaron Blaco, Jewels Meyers, Jillian Ewing, Kalli Bates, Stephanie Hernandez, Tiffany, and Justin. 

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, her son Todd, and adopted daughter, Melody Schmitz.

A service was held in her memory at Connection Point Church in Raytown on Tuesday September 29, 2026. JoAnn was cremated via services of Cremation Society of KS & MO.
