Phyllis Lynne Henry, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 74.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Don and Shirley Steitz. She spent the majority of her childhood in Gladstone, Missouri, where she graduated from Oak Park High School in 1970. Following high school, Phyllis attended House of Heavilin Beauty College, where she earned her cosmetology license. This began what would become her lifelong career and passion as a hairdresser.
Phyllis was a woman of faith who grew up in the church and attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church for many years. Her faith and family were important parts of her life, and she cherished the many relationships she built throughout the years.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Shirley Steitz; her sister, Pat; her brother-in-law, Dave Chambers; her nephew, Jeff Kampfer; and her granddaughter, Zoe.
She is survived by her sisters, Connie Kampfer and Kathryn Chambers; her sons, John Henry and wife Christy, and Steven Henry and wife Katherine; her grandchildren, Amber and husband Jonathan Hartman, Aaron Flahardy, Stephanie, Joshua, and Roslyn; and her great-grandchildren, Mikalah, Nathan, Kaitlin, Steele, Mason, and Dean. She also leaves behind many other beloved family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Phyllis will be remembered for her passion for being a hairdresser and the joy she found in making others feel beautiful. She was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and proudly carried a love for the red, white, and blue. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and she will be deeply missed.
