In Loving Memory of Richard Onus Patrick

“Ricky Patrick” — “RP”

Ricky Patrick of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on October 6, 2026, in Kansas City, Kansas.

Ricky was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Bill and Frances Patrick on December 11, 1959. Some of his most cherished early memories were made at the Patrick farm in McLouth, Kansas. He enjoyed exploring the land around the farm, fishing, and swimming in the ponds with his brother and cousins.

Ricky was an avid music lover who played guitar from a very young age. Music was always a big part of his life. He bought his daughter her first stereo system and taught her to love rock and roll just as he did, beginning when she was only three years old. That love of music remains engraved in her heart to this day.

Ricky played in a band with his brother, William and his uncle Bobby. He also taught his cousin, Chris, how to play guitar, and Chris fondly remembers that Ricky’s guitar was the first one he ever played. Ricky also gifted his granddaughter, Lexie, a guitar. He shared his musical talent and love of music with everyone willing to listen and learn.

Ricky was a talented artist as well. He enjoyed drawing and had a natural gift for it. He passed that talent down to his only granddaughter, and she will always cherish the special bond they shared through art.

Ricky spent most of his adult life as a skilled tree trimmer, a profession he took pride in and found fulfillment in while working outdoors and surrounded by nature.

Ricky loved his family fiercely. He never fully recovered from losing his parents, and there is no doubt he is celebrating that reunion now.

Ricky is survived by his daughter, Raylene Patrick (Joe Tuso); his granddaughter, Lexie Brandstetter (Sam); his brother, William Patrick (Jackie Chandler); his niece, Alicia Patrick (Andrew Beers); his nephews, Brandon Patrick (Kendra) and Anthony Choat; many great-nieces, one great-nephew, and countless cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend of 10 years, Angela Lopez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Frances Patrick; his grandparents, Effie and Onus Patrick, Edna Johns, and Arnold Langford; his aunt and uncle, Barbara Morris and Kenny Grable; and his uncles, Bill Langford and Bobby Johns.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
